This year our team visit to Chiang Mai was focused on supporting and encouraging Jacqui Croxon - our Catalyst long-term mission partner - and her work through Shalom House, and the wider SIM Thailand mission community. The team engaged in local ministry through school visits, Bible studies, and language support, while also running a Bible program for children and youth at the SIM Spiritual Life Conference.
Together, these activities provided practical help on the ground, created space for missionaries to be refreshed, and gave the team a meaningful, first-hand experience of God at work in a different cultural context.
The team to Chiang Mai was made up of Marcella, Deanna, Keren, Tilly, Bek, Daniel, Ellyse, Josiah, Zoe, and Karen. Each person brought a unique set of gifts, experiences, and a shared heart to serve, encourage, and grow through the opportunity.
While the team was on the ground, Belinda played an important role supporting from home base, helping ensure everything ran smoothly behind the scenes. Together, this team reflected a strong sense of unity and purpose as they stepped into the mission experience.
Having grown up at Catalyst with a background in local community development, Jacqui is serving her third term in South Asia. With a ministry stretching around the world, Jacqui helps those marginalised by living with HIV find ‘Hope for Life’. Jacqui serves as the HIV Ministry point person with SIM International and the Health and Community advisor for Hope for Life Thailand, as well as serving on SIM’s Board of Governors.
Sent out from Catalyst with a background in teaching and a passion for developing leaders, Lisa is serving her second term in a restricted access nation in South Asia. Along with learning language and culture, Lisa works in University ministry while coordinating events and functions amongst workers in her country.
Originally sent from Catalyst to serve in Ethiopia as teachers, Peter and Gennie are now in South Asia using their gifts in leadership, teaching, and community development. They are stepping out in faith as they leave their two adult sons behind. Partner with Peter & Gennie in support through prayer, practical help, encouragement and financial donations.
Catalyst has partnered with the Shorts for over 45 years of ministry in West Africa. While Covid has made their travels more challenging, they continue to provide support to the ministry in Niger, but also are involved in caring for the unique needs of retired global workers in Australia while inspiring next-gens to engage in mission.
