"Peace on Earth, and mercy mild,
God and sinners reconciled."

- Charles Wesley

Charles Wesley

When we walk through the shopping centres at Christmas time we often hear Christmas music. Some of them are popular songs that celebrate the holiday such as Jingle Bells, others are Christmas Carols like Hark the Herald Angels Sing which celebrate the true meaning of the Christmas Story.

Charles Wesley, born in the year 1707, was a prolific writer of religious verse having written over 6500 hymns! He believed that singing was a good way to learn what the Bible teaches. His Christmas carol Hark the Herald Angels Sing reminds us that the birth of Jesus was something special - Angels appeared to announce the good news that the long-awaited Messiah of Israel had been born! It also reminds us that the birth of Jesus was God’s plan for everyone to have the opportunity to experience a new birth.

Hark! The herald angels sing
"Glory to the newborn King"
Peace on earth and mercy mild
God and sinners reconciled

Joyful all ye nations rise
Join the triumph of the skies
With angelic host proclaim
Christ is born in Bethlehem

Christ is born in Bethlehem
